Staff and family owners at a Windermere holiday park are celebrating their triumph in last week's Enjoy England Awards for Excellence (23 April).

Park Cliffe was awarded a silver accolade in the tourist board's annual "Oscars" for Britain's most outstanding accommodation providers and visitor attractions.

It means that Park Cliffe, owned by Susan and Derek Dickson, is now ranked among the top three holiday parks from more than three thousand throughout the UK.

The husband and wife team were present at the glittering awards ceremony which was held at the National Railway Museum in York.

The park covers 25 acres of open countryside and woodland above the eastern shores of Windermere.
In addition to facilities for people bringing their own tent, touring caravan or motorhome, it provides over 50 privately-owned luxury caravan holiday homes and lodges.

As well as some of the most dramatically beautiful views in Cumbria, the park also offers visitors a restaurant which features Cumbrian specialities on the menu, plus children's play areas.

This latest prize will join others received by the couple since taking over the park two years ago - including a David Bellamy Conservation Award for its work in protecting flora and fauna.

"This is a fantastic honour to receive right at the start of this year's holiday season when bookings are already running well ahead of least year's levels," commented Susan.
