Autumn and Winter events in the Lakes

Spooky Halloween Treetop Trail at Treetop Nets, Brockhole over the half term weeks

Halloween Experience at Brockhole Sat 20th – Wed 31st October

Witches and Wizards Week at Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway from Monday 22nd – Friday 26th October

The railway has a carriage trapped in the Haverthewaite tunnel that can’t get out! Whilst the carriage has been left in the tunnel it has become haunted and now you’ll find plenty of spooky craft activities inside – just be sure you make it out of the carriage alive! There’s also a ‘Ghoul Trail’ and short trail ride to Lakeside for more ghoulish fun this Halloween!

Pumpkin Carving at Hayes Garden Centre, Ambleside on Wednesday 24th – Monday 29th October

It is advisable to book tickets for this; children are £6 each and kids members are £5.

Holker Halloween Fun! Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th October

Park Cliffe Halloween Party on Saturday 27th October

Our annual Halloween party will begin with a magician who will be performing from 4pm for an hour then later on in the evening plenty of ghoulish games will be played including many infamous Park Cliffe favourites! Be there in your scariest attire to join in this memorable night of spooky fun! There will be both a children’s and adults costume competition, pumpkin carving competition, and free Halloween games. Remember to bring Halloween decoration for your pod, tourer, motorhome or a tent as there are prizes for the best dressed!

Halloween Fun at Beatrix Potter on Sunday 28th October

Children in fancy dress go free into the attraction with a paying adult.



Holker Winter Market on Friday 2nd November – Sunday 4th November

This market has a wide selection of the best produce you can find during the winter season. At £3 for entry to the market it’s a great price to have a look around for the day and see what’s on offer!

Park Cliffe Bonfire Night on Saturday 3rd November

This evening we will have our annual bonfire on site and then part way through the evening we have our own fireworks display – which if the sky is clear – should be amazing as always!

We will be raising funds for our nominated charity, Fix the Fells. Events going on will be our infamous mystery raffle; thank you in advance for all your contributions to this charity which works all year round to improve the accessibility of the Lakes and conservation of popular tourist walks and routes across the county.

Park Cliffe’s Final Social Evening of the Year! Saturday 10th November
including presentation of a cheque to ‘Fix the Fells’, our nominated charity for 2018.

Kendal Mountain Festival from Thursday 15th November – Sunday 18th November

The biggest UK film festival and weekend for all adventurers or outdoor enthusiast! To take a look at the 2017 Festival, click here.

We have partnered with Cool Camping and Kendal Mountain Festival to offer a prize of 2 nights in a premier camping pod and 2 tickets for the Festival weekend. Tickets include the sell-out Bike Night session on Friday 16th November, plus tickets to the Snow Night session, the KMF ceilidh and 2 all day film passes for both Saturday and Sunday.

Dickensian Festival at Ulverston on Saturday 24th November – Sunday 25th November

A family event with plenty of free entertainment, a variety of stalls surrounding pubs and cafes and a period costume competition from the Victorian era. This weekend is also the annual switching on of the Christmas Lights!

Visit Ulverston this weekend and you will be sure to step back in time!


Hawkshead Christmas Fair Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December
Hawkshead Christmas Fair returns 1st & 2nd December. Come & join in for a very special Christmas fair in the beautiful village of Hawkshead in the heart of the Lake District. Hawkshead village will be filled with stalls selling a fantastic array of Christmas craft, local produce, Christmas carols, live entertainment as well as a Santa’s Grotto and lantern display.

Make all your Christmas dreams come true in Windermere and Bowness this year!

Take an opportunity to do some Christmas shopping in the two of Lakeland’s most scenic villages and Windermere & Bowness Community Choir will entertain you with festive songs.
The Winter Lights Parade which commences at 4.30pm (from Windermere Railway Station).  6:00pm (approx) – Free Fireworks Display.

Windermere Christmas Market on Saturday 8th December – Sunday 9th December.

Windermere has in recent years jumped on the bandwagon of hosting German Christmas Markets and now welcomes a wide variety of stalls every year which take place in the centre of Windermere with easy access to many restaurants and cafes throughout the weekend. Stalls are sells various seasonal gifts to delicious baked goods and tasty treats. A quick stop at Windermere Christmas Markets if you are in the surrounding area is a must to get you in the festive spirit!
