Park Cliffe is the Green Champion at Small Business Awards

8 May 2024 Awards

We couldn't be happier to have won another award in sustainability!

We are delighted to announce that we have recently been named as regional winners in the Sustainability category at the Federation of Small Businesses Awards 2024. At Park Cliffe, we are incredibly conscious of our environmental impact and work hard to provide ‘green holidays’ in the Lake District, so we’re over the moon to have taken the title!

There were hundreds of eligible businesses across the North West and we were up against some stiff competition, making this victory even more special! Our win means we will now go forward to the National Finals of the FSB Awards, which will be held on the 9th May at Blackpool’s iconic Winter Gardens.

Why are these awards so important to us?

Park Cliffe is based in 25 acres of countryside near the shores of Windermere. We offer a selection of holiday homes to rent and own, as well as glamping accommodation, camping and touring pitches. Our idyllic location in the heart of the Lake District National Park means we are very connected to nature and we have always taken our responsibility to the natural world very seriously. The whole team, especially the park owners children, Abi and Jack are invested in our projects and work hard to bring them to fruition.

Protecting the beautiful landscape is a privilege and we feel like we need to do everything we can to conserve it, so that it can be enjoyed by generations to come. Working in the grounds of Park Cliffe is a real pleasure – we feel lucky to work in such spectacular surroundings.

More about Park Cliffe’s green initiatives

We are very happy that we attract guests and holiday home buyers who share our love of the natural world, and the encouragement they provide has always been fantastic, which is why we would also want to thank them for our latest achievement!

Over the course of the last couple of years we have taken on many environmentally-friendly initiatives on site. For example, we recently opened a solar array project generating green energy in the grounds of the park. Representing a £200,000 investment, the project features over 200 high-efficiency solar panels which will save 21 tonnes of carbon from entering the atmosphere each year.

We are also one of the first businesses in Cumbria to ban single-use plastic and our grounds play host to many wild flowers providing nectar for honey, bees and butterflies.
