Yes, you can swim in Bassenthwaite. It’s much quieter than neighbouring lakes thanks to motorised craft (except electric vessels) being banned. There is easy access to the water in a number of locations around the lake.
Bassenthwaite Lake is just 21m deep, which means it is slightly warmer than the other lakes.
