Bar Manager

Salary: Starting at £13.84 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week (Flexible rota including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays) 

About the Role

Are you a hospitality professional with a passion for the great outdoors? Park Cliffe Camping & Caravan Park  is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Bar Manager to take the helm at our stunning site in the heart of the Lake District.

In this role, you aren’t just managing a bar; you are creating a high-quality, welcoming environment for our guests as they enjoy their leisure time. You will lead a small team of Bar Assistants, ensuring the facility operates safely, profitably, and to an exceptional standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, coach, and manage the performance of Bar Assistants, including scheduling rotas and administering weekly payroll.
  • Operational Excellence: Take full ownership of cellar management (line cleaning, keg rotation, gas safety) and maintain a premium environment for guests.
  • Financial Performance: Manage stock levels, conduct regular stocktakes, and work within budgets to achieve profit targets.
  • Commercial Strategy: Identify opportunities for upselling and refresh our drinks menu to reflect current trends and local tastes.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all operations strictly adhere to the Licensing Act (Challenge 25), COSHH, and Food Hygiene regulations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 2–3 years in a bar supervisory or management role within a hospitality environment. Experience in a seasonal holiday park environment is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skill: Strong knowledge of cellar management and draught systems is essential.
  • Licensing: You must be a Personal Licence Holder (or be willing to obtain your APLH).
  • Leadership: A proven ability to motivate a small team and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Flexibility: As this is a seasonal environment, you must be able to work a flexible rota, including peak holiday periods, evenings, and bank holidays.
  • Logistics: This is not a live-in position. Candidates should ideally live within 20–30 minutes of the site and have reliable transportation.

Bar Assistant

We are seeking two enthusiastic and reliable Bar Assistants to join our team at our award-winning park overlooking Lake Windermere. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment and take pride in delivering a warm, “Lake District” welcome to guests, we want to hear from you.

Details:

  • Hours: 30 hours per week, working five days out of seven.
  • Shifts: Afternoon and evening shifts, including weekends.
  • Closing: Shifts include the bar close at 22:00 and subsequent clean-down.
  • Start Date: As soon as possible.
  • Contract End Date: 2nd January 2027
  • Rate of Pay: £13.25 per hour

You will be the face of our bar service, handling everything from serving local drinks and managing the till to ensuring our high hygiene standards are met. We are looking for team players who genuinely enjoy interacting with holidaymakers in a beautiful setting.

Purpose of Job:

To provide a friendly, professional, and efficient service to our guests while maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in line with Site guidelines. This role encompasses both bar and table service duties.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities:

  • Guest Experience: Maintain a welcoming, approachable, and helpful attitude at all times to ensure excellent customer service is delivered to every guest.
  • Operational Excellence: Competently operate the electronic till and handle transactions following established Site procedures.
  • Sales & Stock Management: Maintain stock levels and attractive displays to maximise sales potential. Actively promote products and services to help increase Site revenue.
  • Health, Safety & Hygiene: Ensure all bar and service areas are kept clean and tidy. Follow safe manual handling procedures and adhere to all Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations, including Natasha’s Law.
  • Risk Management: Actively identify and report potential hazards or near misses to the line manager, ensuring appropriate action is taken in accordance with Site procedures.
  • Professional Standards: Maintain a high standard of personal presentation and uniform. Ensure that all food and drink products are presented to the guest in line with Site standards.
  • Performance Support: Assist the department in meeting internal targets, including revenue goals, hygiene audit results, and stock-take accuracy.
  • Teamwork & Flexibility: Maintain constructive working relationships with colleagues across the site. Be prepared to undertake reasonable additional tasks to ensure the smooth running of the site.
  • Feedback: Share guest and team feedback with management to suggest improvements for service or revenue growth.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a bar or hospitality environment is an advantage but not essential.
