Our pick of the best spa days in The Lakes
The Lake District is home to some of the best day spas in the country, providing the perfect setting to relax and unwind. Spend quality time with your loved ones as you admire the spectacular Lakeland scenery and escape the stresses of daily life.
Here we share some of our favourite spas in the Lake District. All are just a short drive from Park Cliffe Caravan and Camping Park.
The Swan Hotel Spa, Newby Bridge
Distance from Park Cliffe: 4 miles, 10-minute drive
Treat yourself to a relaxing day at The Holte Spa during your next visit to the Lake District. This luxurious spa is situated within the grounds of The Swan Hotel and boasts a series of indoor and outdoor pools.
The Holte Spa prides itself on creating ‘thermal journeys’ that are tailored to your specific needs. Book one of their indulgent treatments or unwind in the traditional Finnish sauna, naturally filtered jacuzzi or 100% humidity steam room.

The Lakeside Hotel, Newby Bridge
We highly recommend a visit to the Destiny Spa during your couples break at Park Cliffe. This wonderful spa occupies an idyllic location, with far-reaching views across Windermere.
Your spa day will begin with a light refreshment by the lake. Enjoy a gentle stroll around the hotel grounds before heading inside for a swim.
There are plenty of relaxation spaces where you can unwind in between treatments. Treatments are performed by the team of highly skilled therapists – you’ll leave feeling completely revitalised!
Bowness
Enjoy a day of pampering at the The Old England Hotel & Spa. This 4-star luxury hotel is set in the heart of the Lake District, close to Windermere and surrounded by Lakeland fells. The hotel is part of the Macdonald Hotel Group. Choose from a range of ELAMIS spa packages and dining options.
The Old England Hotel & Spa has partnered with Jenifer Young, the founder of Beauty Despite Cancer. They are one of the first hotels in the UK to offer specially designed treatments for people living with and beyond cancer.
Ambleside
Distance from Park Cliffe: 9 miles, 20-minute drive
The Spa at the Low Wood Bay has been voted one of the best spas in the UK by the Good Spa Guide and it’s easy to see why! This luxury 5-star spa is home to a variety of unique experiences, designed with your relaxation in mind.
Wellness facilities include a range of indoor and outdoor pools, saunas and steam rooms , allowing you to immerse yourself in nature, while relaxing your mind and body. Enjoy the sound of birdsong as the stresses of daily life drift away.
There are two infinity pools with unbeatable views to enjoy. The spa opens late into the evening, so you can watch the sun go down and the stars come out. For something a bit different, visit during one of their sunset sessions, which take place on select dates throughout May – August. Enjoy good company, cocktails and canapés to the sounds of chilled Ibiza style tunes.
The Lodore Falls Hotel, Derwentwater
Distance from Park Cliffe: 30 miles, 1 hour drive
The Falls Spa is slightly further afield than our other suggestions, but we think it’s well worth the drive. Situated in the grounds of the famed Lodore Falls hotel, this luxury spa promises an indulgent spa day, that is difficult to beat!
The spa overlooks Derwentwater with views towards the fells in the distance. Enjoy a glass of bubbly as you soak up the scenery and focus on some quality ‘me time’.
There are 5 luxury treatment rooms alongside a private Rasul chamber, where you can be pampered with a range of ELEMIS and Ishga products. Treat yourself to a tasty lunch in the multi-award-winning, pan Asian restaurant – Mizu.
Bassenthwaite
Distance from Park Cliffe: 35 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes drive
If you’re looking for a relaxing spa day in The Lake District, you can’t go wrong with a trip to Armathwaite Hall. This luxury spa is part of the Armathwaite estate – a sprawling country manor with immaculate grounds.
The spa is set over two floors and features an infinity pool, outdoor hot tub and thermal suite. If you’re in the mood for something slightly less sedate, you can make use of the exercise studio, gym and a host of other wellness activities.
Park Cliffe is the perfect base for a spa break in The Lakes. Whilst we don’t have wellness facilities on-site, we’re ideally placed for visiting a range of hotels spa nearby – many are less than 10 minutes’ drive from the park.
We have a variety of self-catering accommodation to choose from at our Windermere caravan and camping park. Our luxury glamping pods are a popular choice for couples looking for a relaxing weekend away.
