It is important that when planning your visit to Park Cliffe you approach from the direction of Newby Bridge as there is a very steep turn from the main road which should be avoided. Please also avoid using satellite navigation systems to reach Park Cliffe as they tend to direct you along country lanes and via a ford. Please follow these directions.
Park Cliffe has both touring pitches, camping pitches and privately owned holiday homes.
The park has both tarmac and gravel roads with clearly marked speed bumps. Please drive with care and consideration, observing the 10mph speed limit.
The touring pitches are gravel hardstanding with a 10amp electric hook-up, drinking water and waste drainage. Most are level pitches, a few are set in an elevated position. The roads around the touring park are gravel and tarmac, all pitches have parking alongside the caravans.
We have two main camping areas for tents. The first, Ghyllside, allows you to reserve your pitch, some are available with a 6amp electric hook-up. This area is across a minor road from the main park. The second area, Fellside, offers magnificent views down the lake towards the Langdales and across to Coniston Old Man. Fellside is undulating and sloping in places and may not be suitable for people who find walking difficult. We also have a few camping pitches on Moorhow (touring area), these can only be reserved via the office not online.
We have twelve camping pods on the park, some are accessed via a series of steps. Please enquire when booking to check suitability for your party. Standard and family pods have a double electric socket with a small heater and light. NB: the use of airbeds is recommended. In addition our premier pods have beds, one double, bunks and a pull out trundle bed (bedding is not provided).
We have three holiday caravans for hire at Park Cliffe. All have one double and one twin bedroom, one twin bed can be replaced with a travel cot. They all have an enclosed decking area accessed via 1 or 2 steps, with a gate making it safe for children.
The amenity block and restaurant, bar and shop are located in the centre of the Park – the distance from the furthest pitch is approx. 300 metres. A large print menu is available in the restaurant, please ask.
Ramped access brings you to the amenity block. There are separate toilet and shower facilities for ladies and gents, two steps access these facilities. A dishwashing area is available (under cover).
The launderette houses three washing machines, which take 3 x £1 per wash, a two tumble driers which takes 50p’s as well as a free filtered water machine. There is also a sink for hand washing clothes, an iron (takes 20p) and ironing board. Washing tablets can be obtained from a vending machine (£1).
There is a disabled bathroom containing a shower, toilet and basin and we provide a baby change room with a baby changing unit and basin.
Above the amenity block, reached via a flight of stairs are five private bathrooms providing a bath, basin, drying rack, toilet and heated towel rail. Four can be hired on a nightly basis, one is available to use on an hourly basis.
Reception is open daily from 9am to 5pm, during high season it is open to 9pm. If a guest needs assistance outside of these hours a notice is on the Reception door informing guests how to contact the Duty Warden. We have a portable induction loop available, please ask if you would like to use this facility.
The park has partial coverage on the Vodafone mobile telephone network and there is a payphone adjacent to Reception on the end of the farmhouse.
Free Wi-Fi is available park wide including in the bar and restaurant (open weekends, Easter, Spring Bank to mid September and October half term). This is sufficient for email and general web browsing.
Camping and Calor Gas are available from Reception.
The Restaurant, Bar and Shop are open daily during school holiday periods, but at weekends only (all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday) outside of these periods. Access can be made via two entrances, one on the level opposite Reception and one via some steps adjacent to the amenity block. The Shop provides a range of basic provisions including bread, milk, papers, toiletries, camping supplies, wine, beer, sweets and gifts.
