15 July 2021 On the park
Message from Park Cliffe about preventing the spread of COVID-19
We are really looking forward to welcoming you to Park Cliffe for a much-deserved holiday. The safety and wellbeing of our guests and team remain our key priority. We have been closely following the latest government advice and you can rest assured that you and your family can relax in the knowledge that we have the relevant health and safety measures in place, including:
Face coverings & social distancing:
Contactless customer service:
Cleanliness is key:
How to contact us during this time…
We very much look forward to seeing you again,
The Park Cliffe Team
As the summer holiday have come to an end and we have reduced customer numbers on the park we have removed the shower wristband system requirement and have reopened our games/information room.
All other precautions listed below remain in force for the time being.
The Government has now confirmed that all COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted from 19th July and they are asking us all as individuals to adopt a common sense approach to protecting ourselves and others in future.
At Park Cliffe, we have decided to maintain some of our precautions for the current time to protect our staff, visitors and guests from the spread of infection. Please help us by respecting these measures while you’re on the park. We will keep these precautions under review.
We can welcome campers and pod customers back to Park Cliffe from 17th May.
From this date, we’ll be able to reopen our shower blocks in line with the Government timetable for easing COVID-19 restrictions.
To safely reopen our shower blocks to campers we are introducing some new measures to manage social distancing and minimise mixing between different households.
A wristband will be provided to you when you check-in on arrival. When using the shower blocks, please hang your wristband on the hooks displayed at the entrance to the shower blocks. If there is no free hook available, then please wait or return later. A free hook indicates there is a shower available. Don’t forget to collect your wristband again as you leave. Please minimise your time spent in the shower blocks and just use them for showering or washing at the sinks. (Do your hair and make-up back at your tent, pod or caravan please!)
Face coverings are mandatory when using the toilets and showers (apart from when actually showering). We are maintaining our regular cleaning protocols and other COVID safe measures across the park.
Our games/information room remains closed at this time.
Following updated guidance from Government we are now permitted to open our toilets and launderette from 12th April 2021, Showers and other facilities such as our games room remain closed until 17th May 2021 at the earliest.
We can accept booking for:
Touring caravans and motorhomes (customers must be able to use their own on board shower facilities until 17 May when shared facilities are likely to be permitted.
Self contained rental accommodation including our cottage, en suite deluxe pod and hire caravans.
Following Government’s announcement yesterday the provisional date for reopening the park is 12 April for the following pitches and accommodation:
Touring caravans and motorhomes (customers must be able to use their own on board toilet and shower facilities until 17 May when shared facilities are likely to be permitted.
We hope to offer a takeaway menu and outdoor dining from 12 April at weekends. Opening hours to be confirmed.
From 17 May we can offer camping pitches and pods as shared facilities will be allowed.
Please note we have a small number of private bathrooms which could be added to an existing booking for exclusive use between 12 April and 17 May, please email info@parkcliffe.co.uk for availability. These cost £15 night.
In person dining in our restaurant is expected to reopen from 17 May.
We will be contacted customers whose bookings are affected by yesterdays announcement over the next few days. If you wish to send us an email or leave a message in the meantime please accept our apologies for the delay there may be in replying to you as we are dealing with a large volume of enquiries
All dates are provisional and subject to Government’s 4 tests.
Following Government’s announcement Park Cliffe is closed. Tier restrictions allowing we hope to reopen for the 2021 season on March 1st.
Following Government’s announcement last Thursday we can confirm Cumbria is is Tier 2. This means that we will be able to reopen 9am Wednesday 2nd December.
Subject to remaining in Tier 2 or below we will be open for holiday home owners until 3rd January 2021 when we will close until 1st March 2021.
Our rental holiday caravans will be available to hire for 2 weeks over the festive period (20th December 2020 to 3rd January 2021).
Our touring, camping and pods remain closed during the winter months.
While we wait for further Government announcements we are cautiously putting plans in place to begin to welcome you back to Park Cliffe. It’s vitally important that our activities continue to protect our family, team, visitors and our wider community, and we will continue to follow national advice and the guidance provided by our holiday parks and tourism associations.
We are optimistic that we can begin to welcome visitors back to Park Cliffe later this summer. However, it’s likely that some of our usual services won’t be available and the way we all interact on the park will look very different.
We are planning a phased return – see below for full details – and unfortunately, in order to manage social distancing restrictions, we won’t be able to see all of you this year, as we operate at reduced capacity. We will soon be releasing booking dates for 2021, however, too.
We are hoping from early July we will be able to welcome our Holiday Home owners and Seasonal Touring customers back to the Park (subject to Government guidance) but other guests will have to wait a little longer.
Part Seasonal Touring – We are seeking expressions of interest from anyone who may like to book a part seasonal touring pitches from early July until 8th November (subject to Government guidance). This is for you if you can leave your touring caravan or motorhome with us for the autumn season, and you can use your own toilet and shower facilities.
In addition, a small number of short stay touring pitches will be available to those guests who are able to use their own toilet and shower facilities.
Please note: There will be no access to our communal shower and toilet blocks so we can manage social distancing and a strict cleaning regime.
Rental caravans – we are initially accepting bookings for our rental caravans from 24th July. All our caravans have private bathroom facilities and can sleep up to 4 people in two bedrooms.
In addition, we can offer two other self-catering options for short breaks of 3 nights arriving on Fridays. Each semi detached lodge sleeps 2 people in a double bedroom, and has a shower room, plus open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area. Prices are the same as our rental caravans and they are also available from 24th July.
Glamping Pods – we will be allocating our Premier Pods (sleep 5), Family Pod Plus (sleep 4) and one Family Pod (sleeps 2 adults, 3 small children) to book, along with exclusive use bathroom facilities which will be yours for the duration of your stay. Please note bathroom facilities are a short walk from the pods and are accessed via stairs. Glamping bookings will initially be available to book online from 24th July. There is a minimum 3 night stay during the summer holidays.
Moor View Cottage – our new Lakeland cottage can be booked for full week holidays arriving and departing on Saturdays from 24th July. Just a couple of minutes walk from Park Cliffe, it sleeps 4 people in 3 bedrooms, and there are 3 bathrooms, an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area and a snug. There’s parking for 2 cars, plus all the essentials you need for a family holiday, including a large garden, wifi and a smart TV. We can also offer a travel cot and highchair if needed. Sorry pets not allowed.
Bar & Restaurant – unfortunately, it will still be some time before we can welcome you to our bar. Our bar and restaurant will be open for takeaways only in the evenings on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and for Sunday breakfasts. This will enable us to manage social distancing rules and ensure we can keep everyone as safe as possible.
Our shop will be open at specific times (more information to follow) but unfortunately our games room and tourist information area will remain closed until 2021. It is also unlikely the childrens play area will be open but we await Govenment guidance.
Camping – it’s with heavy hearts that we tell you we probably won’t be able to accept camping bookings this year. It’s very unlikely we will be able to manage the social distancing needed in our communal shower and toilet blocks and ensure you all have a good quality, safe experience with us. We will let you know if this changes but we’re very hopeful for a ‘near normal’ 2021 season.
We’re really looking forward to welcoming you back to Park Cliffe as soon as it’s safe and practical.
Susan, Derek, family and team.
Following last night’s broadcast by the Prime Minister, Park Cliffe remains closed by law for all owners, accommodation, touring and camping.
Now is still the time to Stay Home and not to visit the Lake District.
We have issued refunds or credit notes to all our guests with bookings to the end of August.
We regularly discuss the current situation and how we will manage a phased and progressive route out of lock down.
We hope you are all safe and well and look forward to welcoming you back to the Lakes when the time is right.
These are unprecedented times. We all have a responsibility to consider not just ourselves but to the people of our country, the local community and on this park.
We are having to make decisions and take actions which were unimaginable a few weeks ago to help to stop the spread of COVID-19.
We are closing Park Cliffe on Monday 23rd March 2020 until further notice.
Thank goodness for the announcements of support which have come from Government which should help many to be ready to resume business just as soon as the crisis passes.
We are not accepting any new guests arriving with tourers, motorhomes, tents or staying in rental accommodation after Monday 23rd March 2020. Guests staying with us currently should arrange to depart by Thursday 26th March 2020. We will not be accepting future 2020 bookings at this time until the position is clearer. We hope to have bookings open for the 2021 season in the next few weeks.
We will be contacting all customers who have a 2020 booking with us. Initially we will be contacting those with an arrival date in the next 4 weeks. We would be grateful for the support of customers requesting a transfer of date or a credit note in preference to a refund. Bookings can be transferred to the 2021 season and any credit notes will be valid for the 2021 season. Please bear with us, as we expect a high volume of calls and emails.
Over the last 24 hours, there has been an increasing and understandable concern in local communities towards the owners of second homes and caravans, as well as holiday visitors. The government’s clear guidance is that there must be no unnecessary or non-essential travel.
We ask private owners and seasonal touring customers who are not on the park not to come here, and if you are on the park please depart by Thursday 26th March 2020. We are following the Government’s guidance so closing to protect you and wider society. We will be contacting all private owners and seasonal touring customers shortly and would ask to wait for this communication before further questions.
I urge you to co-operate at this difficult time please.
Personally the situation is deeply upsetting for all at Park Cliffe and we are grateful to those we have spoken to today for their support and cooperation.
We’d like to thank our staff and customers for helping us through these last few weeks and we look forward to welcoming you and your families back to Park Cliffe in the future.
Best wishes to you and your families.
Susan, Derek, family & staff
