Yes, you can fish on Bassenthwaite Lake. It’s a lovely place to spend the day.
Anglers will need a fishing permit to fish from the shore or boat. These must be bought in advance and are available to purchase online or in one of the local shops. You cannot buy a fishing permit on the lake shore. You must have a digital or printed copy of the permit with you, so that you can show park rangers. Anglers over the age of 16 must also have a valid Environment Agency rod licence.
