We have put together some exciting family friendly activities for Halloween and Half Term 2023. Have a read below!
If you’re planning a trip to the Lake District this October Half term, make time for some Halloween activities with the kids. Younger members of the family will love participating in a host of themed activities at popular attractions across The Lakes. Here’s our pick of things to do in Lake District for Halloween this year. We share our pick of spooky days out for families and couples – all are within easy reach of our Windermere holiday park.

Of course, we had to start off the list with our very own Halloween event at Park Cliffe. On Saturday the 28th of October 2023, we are hosting a range of Halloween celebrations. There will be a Children’s Magic Show in the afternoon, with games and prizes for children’s fancy dress, followed by competitions, including best carved pumpkin, best decorated pod, caravan or tourer. This day is a great opportunity for your kids to celebrate Halloween.
If you’re in the Lake District around Halloween and you’re in the mood for a spooky night out, the Beech Hill Hotel and Spa in Windermere is hosting a terrifying Halloween Ball. During the night, you will be treated to champagne, a gourmet three course meal – spooky season themed– and loads of dancing. The ball is a fantastic opportunity for couples spending the Halloween weekend in the Lake District to dress up and do something different! If you’re looking for accommodation in the Lake District in October, Park Cliffe has a variety of luxurious camping pods ideal for couples.
This Half Term, take your kids on a spooky day out at one of the biggest Halloween experiences in the Lake District, hosted by Brockhole on Windermere. This event has become a staple of the Lake District’s Halloween season with tickets quickly selling out. With the purchase of a Pumpkin Passport, families with young kids can attend as many activities as they want (or dare to) during the day. Activities include face painting, mini monster golf, wander through the haunted forest, follow the pumpkin trail in the Lake District and more!
On the edge of the Lake District, and only one hour away from Bowness-on-Windermere, Muncaster Castle is considered to be one of the most haunted buildings in the UK. The castle is often investigated by paranormal researchers, who try to catch evidence of ghosts and explain the unexplainable. Guests who have stayed in the Tapestry Room have allegedly heard footsteps outside, seen the door handle turn by itself, and even heard a child crying! The Castle usually runs yearly Halloween events each October, perfect for families with young kids looking to spend a couple of spooky hours at Muncaster Castle!
Lakeland Maze Farm Park is running a Halloween event every day from the 23rd to the 31st of October catered towards families with kids. Your children can spend an unforgettable day hunting treats in a mini maze and dancing the night away (sort of!) at a spooky kids disco. During those Halloween events, kids can partake into more fun activities, such as fancy dress competitions, meeting Halloween characters and full access to the rest of the park. Fore more information, visit Lakeland Maze Farm Park’s website.
If you’re after a creative experience, Halloween Matrix Circus Skills Workshop might be great for you. During your session, you will learn a lot of new skills such as magic trips, hula hoop, plate spin and more. The workshop is aimed at kids over 5 years old, but younger kids are also welcome. The event takes place on the 29th of October at 1pm, and it ends with a pumpkin trail and breath-taking fire show. Book your tickets now!
