The Lake District is the ideal destination for a family getaway this October Half Term. While the weather is slightly more unpredictable than the summer, there’s still plenty to see and do across Cumbria.

The off-peak season means theres fewer people around, so you can explore historic towns and villages at your own pace. Take on some of the regions best-loved hikes and admire the changing colours and breath taking scenery.

Dog Friendly Holidays during the October Half Term

Don’t worry about leaving your four-legged friends behind during October Half Term. We happily welcome well-behaved dogs to our Windermere holiday park. We have a variety of dog-friendly accommodation, including camping pods and static caravans. Of course, dogs are more than welcome when camping or staying on one of touring and motorhome pitches!

Halloween Events the Lake District this October Half-Term

There are numerous events happening all across the region throughout October Half Term.

Halloween Family Festival, Muncaster Castle

Open from the 26th of October until the 3rd of November, one ticket gives you access to plenty of family-friendly activities, such as the Halloween Maze, a pumpkin carving workshop, and you can  take a stroll in the garden and follow the vampire trail! There’s also live entertainment and you can walk around the haunted castle with your family for a truly spooky experience. If it couldn’t get any better, the event is also dog friendly. Book tickets now following this link. Muncaster Castle is located at Ravenglass, about 1hr away from Park Cliffe, the perfect distance for a fun day out!

Visit the Lake District this October Half Term Spooky Book

If you’re visiting Muncaster Castle, why not buy joint tickets to ride the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway to make the most of both attractions? Ravenglass & Eskdale is a classic family-friendly experience in the Lake District, where visitors can take in scenic valleys and breathtaking costal landscapes. While the railway is an all-year long type of experience, it can be particularly enjoyable during October Half Term when guests can really take in the beautiful orange and amber colours of the Lake District. This time of the year, the railway and facilities are also decorated for Spooky Season, making the adventure even more memorable!

Brockhole Halloween Experience

Another Lake District returning event is the Brockhole Halloween Experience, running from the 26th of October to the 3rd of November. This event is filled with many spooky activities that will definitely keep the whole family entertained. From zombie archery and ghost hunting sessions to axe throwing and exploring the Haunted Forest, you will not run out of things to do. Tickets are now on sale, starting at £25.

Brockhole on Windermere is only 20 minutes from Park Cliffe, making it very easy to reach if you’re staying with us!

Dove Cottage

Dove Cottage, the former home of poet William Wordsworth will be hosting spooky stories and Halloween crafts sessions for kids! Book now before all the spaces fill up.

To celebrate Halloween and October Half Term, we have organised some themed activities on Saturday the 26th of October for guests to enjoy! Squeeze in one last getaway with us before the season ends.
