About Brockhole on Windermere

Brockhole on Windermere is set right on the shores of the lake and offers a fun day out for all the family.

If the children are feeling adventurous they can swing or bounce through ancient woodland on Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets. Down by the lakeshore, you can hire kayaks and rowing boats, or catch the cruise boat across the lake, depending on the season. There is also indoor caving and much more!

It’s not all just about action and adventure though. Relax and enjoy the beautiful listed Mawson designed gardens, The Gaddum the fantastic new restaurant overlooking the lake, the new Gaddum Gallery and a great gift shop.

There is a reason for everyone to make Brockhole a must see destination this year and all year round.

The Cafe

Sample Cumbrian cooking at its best in our terrace café – with seating for 100 people and even more outdoor seating overlooking Lake Windermere.

Gardens and grounds

The extensive gardens are a delight whatever time you choose to visit. Take a stroll around the grounds to the lakeshore or enjoy the displays around the house.

Adventure playground

The brand new adventure playground focuses on family fun and features a wide range of equipment suitable for toddlers right through to teenagers.

Bike hire

A range of hire bikes are available to book at Brockhole – including adult bikes, child bikes, tag-alongs and trailers, these can be picked up at Wray Castle.

Archery

Come and have a go at the ancient sport of archery, located on the stunning shoreline of Windermere, England’s largest lake!

Boat Hire

Explore Windermere by boat or bike – hire rowing boats, motor boats, Canadian canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and bikes for all the family from Brockhole lakeshore.

Dining underneath our ancient vine in the Orangery and sampling Brockhole grapes with your Afternoon Tea is simply not to be missed.

Good facilities whatever the weather, with plenty to do indoors and outdoors. Exhibitions, adventure playground, boat hire, mini golf and boat trips with Windermere Lake Cruises.  Mini tractors (ages 3-6) and the Woodland Faerie Trail (suitable all ages) are open seasonally.
