Take to the forest by foot or bring your mountain bikes to explore by pedal power. There are a range of trails of various difficulties, withs something to suit all ages and abilities from complete beginners to experienced riders. The routes are incredibly scenic offering magnificent views over the Lake District countryside. If you keep your eyes peeled you may be lucky enough to spot a variety of wildlife.

For a memorable experience, you can lead beautiful ponies around the forest on a 5 hour pony trek. The ponies will carry a pack containing everything you’ll need for a delicious hot lunch. This activity is only available a couple of days a month. Pre-booking is essential.

One of our favourite things about Grizedale Forest are the various sculptures dotted around the park. Try and find them all during your visit – you certainly won’t be disappointed! They are all made from natural materials and blend seemingly into their surroundings. They really are an impressive spectacle not to be missed.

Food and drink

Grizedale is a wonderful place to enjoy a picnic – there are many scenic spots to enjoy some home bought food. If the weather takes an unexpected turn for the worst, there’s an undercover area near the children’s play area.
