Here's our favourite events and activities happening in the Lake District this Easter!

With the weather getting warmer and the days getting longer, it’s a great idea to spend Easter in the Lake District. We have put together a list of our favourite events, activities and restaurants around Easter this year.

Park Cliffe Easter Fun Weekend

As part of Easter celebrations, we are running a some Easter Celebrations at Park Cliffe throughout the whole Bank Holiday Weekend. The celebrations include a Duck Race, Family Sport Day Egg-travaganza, Easter Egg Hunt, Colouring Competitions and Activity Packs. During Family Sports Day Egg-travaganza, you’ll get the chance to compete against family members during many activities, such as Egg & Spoon Race with a twit, Egg & Scarecrow and an egg-toss showdown.

We are very excited to host fun-filled events for families and guests staying at the Park, and we hope we’ll make it a weekend you won’t forget.

Easter Egg Hunts for Kids

If you’re thinking of visiting the Lake District with kids this Easter, Easter Egg Hunts are a must.

The National Trust’s running an Easter Egg Hunt at Wray Castle, in Ambleside. This family friendly event runs during Easter weekend, from the 23rd of March until the 1st of April from 10am until 3:30pm. It is recommended for visitors to wear appropriate clothes and footwear, as it could still be cold around this time of the year. If you’re a wheelchair user, or are a visitor with reduced mobility, please note that there are some steps along the trail, as it takes place along the grounds of the Castle.

Entry is only £3, and it includes a map and Bunny Ears. Once you complete the trail you can pick which Easter egg you want, among diary, vegan or Free Form options!

The National Trust is running many other Easter Egg Hunts across the Lake District, such as Acorn Bank, Sizergh (ideal for wheelchair users), and Allan Bank.

Enjoy an evening of entertainment at The Forum

If it’s a rainy day and you’d rather spend some time indoors, we highly recommend visiting The Forum in Barrow-in-Furness. This theatre and art centre always has plenty of shows running, from family friendly concerts to pantomimes, dance and even the circus!

The Forum aims to bring a lot of entertainment and fun activities to the local community in Barrow-in-Furness and the surrounding areas. This venue is fully accessible and family friendly.

Barrow-in-Furness is about a 40 minute car drive from Park Cliffe, making The Forum part of the perfect one day trip destination.

Treat yourself to a delicious Easter meal!

Easter is the perfect day of the year to enjoy a meal with your family and kids. There are plenty of local pubs and restaurants across the Lake District that offer a special menu for Easter. There’s nothing better than eating delicious looking out to the breathtaking views of the Lakes! Depending on how far you’re willing to travel from Park Cliffe, we have put some recommendations together.

The popular town of Bowness-on-Windermere is only 10 minutes away from Park Cliffe, and tourists can choose from many options, including:

Between Newby Bridge and Ulverston you will also find:

  • Manor House, a cosy pub that focuses on local cuisine, as well as vegan and vegetarian
  • The Swan Hotel from light bites at the The Café and cosy comfort food in the Swan Inn, all the way to a traditional finer dining experience in their Brasserie.
  • The Rusland Hotel Eatery & Bar serving a large vegan, vegetarian and free from optoins
  • Another one of our favourites is The Grill & Smokehouse Restaurant at Wild Boar Inn, in Crook. This establishment is renowned across the Lake District for its traditional hospitality, friendly staff, open kitchen and you can even enjoy a chef’s table! The food here is a mix of British, Italian and Middle Eastern cuisine. This restaurant is only 10 minutes away from Park Cliffe.

Another option is at Fellpack in Keswick, where you can enjoy a Sunday Roast, pub classics, ands a small selection of food from the evening menu. The bistro is about 1 hour away by car from Park Cliffe, and we recommend it for families and couples looking to explore the stunning village of Keswick and enjoy Derwentwater.
